Public Relations

The PRD office attends to local Public Relations and fundraising matters for The Salvation Army including media relations, donor relations, receipting of donations, Planned Giving, the Victoria Advisory Board, and special events such as the Annual Luncheon, Annual Golf Tournament, the Naden Band Christmas Concerts, etc.

The office was run as an independent program in Victoria for many years but in 2000 the staff were downsized, the Officers were removed, and direction was taken over by Divisional Headquarters. Some programs (such as the Beacon Bus and Christmas kettles) were reassigned to other Salvation Army centres in Victoria. In 2004 the PRD office moved its location from Caledonia Ave. on the outskirts of the downtown centre to a smaller, more central location in downtown Victoria on Fort St.

Currently, the office is maintained by three staff members: a Public Relations Representative (Carol Barton), a Planned Giving Representative (Jim ten Hove), and a Donor Relations Representative (Kris Snyder). The office comes under the direction of the Burnaby Divisional Headquarters PRD office, led by Major Brian Venables.
