Programs & Services

When you think of The Salvation Army Community & Family Services, you probably think of two things: food and clothing. And you are correct. partially!

While we help hundreds of people each year with the basics of food, clothing, & shelter, there is so much more that we do.

Our Founder, William Booth had a motto of "Soup, Soap, & Salvation". The idea behind this slogan is that people need to be saved and to be redeemed from the abyss of sin and into the abundant, wonderful life that God means for all of His creation to experience. However, before many people can reach that point of restoration, they must first have their immediate physical needs met. We cannot preach a message of salvation to a person who is hungry. we cannot tell someone to have hope while they are homeless.

At The Salvation Army Victoria Community & Family Services, our programs are geared towards helping people get beyond a cycle of dependency and to help them become contributing members of society. At the same time, we have to meet them at their crisis point. Therefore, our strategy is two-fold:

1. Meet our people's immediate crisis needs.
2. Direct them towards a program that will help break the cycle of dependency and help them become happy, healthy citizens of Victoria.
