Income Tax Preparation Program - The income tax preparation
program is a service for those who are on social assistance or have low income.
Professional volunteers will complete tax returns free of charge. Income tax
returns and appropriate slips may be dropped off at our office early in the
New Year. Please call for more information.
Emergency Bed Program - Through our partnership with Sleep
Country Canada, we are able to provide mattresses to individual and families
who are in desperate need. Application can be made by telephone.
Coats for Kids - This is another partnership with Sleep
Country Canada that allows us to help those in need. Drop off a coat at
any Sleep Country store, between September 23 & October 31, and it will
be distributed to needy children by the Salvation Army.
Advocacy - The Salvation Army has a rich history and tradition
in the advocacy role. We ensure that each of our clients receives the services
to which he/she is entitled under law or agreements in the welfare system.
Referrals - People with varying needs come to the Army
because they know the Army will either provide the necessary help directly
or will assist them in finding help from other sources. Our employees are
well aware of the resources in the Greater Victoria area, including health,
welfare, employment, housing, recreation, and other community based services.
Chaplaincy - Our centre has two Salvation Army officers, who
have been ordained and function as ministers within our denomination. They
are available to provide spiritual counsel, guidance, and prayer.
