Scotiabank Donation to The Salvation Army Community & Family Services
Andrea Jakeman-Brown, Branch Manager, Victoria Scotiabank,
and Purdy McDonald, Vice President, Scotiabank Vancouver
Island, made the presentation to Major Bill Mason of The
Salvation Army
On November 5, 2009, main branch Scotiabank Victoria
presented The Salvation Army with a cheque for $20,000.00
towards its 2009 Christmas program.
Bill Mason explained that the local Salvation Army centre
will use the funds during the Christmas season and winter
months to help families who are struggling to get by in
Victoria. Demand for support services from The Salvation
Army is way up, and continues to rise.
The Salvation Army
is heavily dependent on donations from the public and
corporate sectors to run its services. This generous donation
will go a long way towards helping to provide emergency help
to those in need in Victoria this winter.
"Scotiabank is pleased to support the local efforts of The
Salvation Army, as they provide hope and support to vulnerable
people in our community. At Scotiabank, community involvement
is not something we just talk about - it's an important part
of the way we live, work and do business every day," says
Purdy McDonald of Scotiabank.
