Hundreds of children in the Greater Victoria area can't afford the school
supplies they need each September. It's a struggle for many families in our
community just to make ends meet and this is especially true at the start
of a new school year. Next to Christmas time, early September causes the
greatest financial strain for families with school-aged children.
With the support of Sleep Country, Office Depot, and Costco, we are providing
free back to school supplies to families in need in the Greater Victoria area.
With this support, we hope to assist over 200 children in the Capital region.
However, the more support we receive, the more kids we can help. You can help
us too! Purchase a new backpack, fill it with school supplies and drop it off
at The Salvation Army on Quadra & Hillside. Or you may make a financial
donation.. A $40.00 donation will help one child receive everything he/she
needs to start school in September.
All backpacks will be distributed by The Salvation Army to children in need
throughout the city. For more information, please contact Captain Juan Burry.
To apply for assistance, please drop by our office and fill out a registration
form.
