On Sunday, September 23, the Vancouver Island Mustang Association
held its annual Toy Run to benefit The Salvation Army’s Christmas toy drive.
Members of the Vancouver Island Mustang Association, the Canadian Classic Chevelles & Beaumonts,
and the Vancouver Island Miata Club cruised their vehicles from the University of Victoria
to the Panorama Recreation Centre. There they showcased over 100 extraordinary vehicles.
The car owners were met by The Salvation Army Community & Family Services staff that
served hot dogs and coffee. All participants brought toys to be distributed by The
Salvation Army during their Christmas campaign. Click here

Approximately $4500 worth of toys was received, along with cash donations. In 2006,
The Salvation Army gave out more than 6000 new toys to children in the Greater Victoria
area. This was possible thanks to generous organizations like these car clubs.
The Salvation Army is extremely busy during the Christmas season as we bring help
and hope to those who need it most. An integral part of our Christmas program is
our Toy Shop, where parents are given the opportunity to choose new toys to give
to their children at Christmas. Families qualifying for Christmas assistance come
to us through the Greater Victoria Christmas Bureau. The Salvation Army benefits
greatly from the donations and partnership of the many community organizations
that support us with toy & food drives.
