Hundreds of children in the Greater Victoria area can't afford the school
supplies they need. It's a struggle for many families in our community
just to make ends meet and this is especially true at the start of a
new school year. Next to Christmas time, early September causes the
greatest financial strain for families with school-aged children.
With the support of the Victoria Foundation and Office Depot, we are
providing free back to school supplies to families in need in the Greater
Victoria area. The Victoria Foundation has provided a $10,000.00 grant,
while Office Depot is donating 300 backpacks as well as school supplies.
With this support, we hope to assist 450 children in the Capital region.
However, the more support we receive. the more kids we can help. You
can help us too! Purchase a new backpack, fill it with school supplies
and drop it off at any Sleep Country store. Or to make a financial
donation, you can drop it off at our office at Quadra & Hillside. A
$40.00 donation will help one child receive everything he/she needs
to start school in September.
All backpacks will be distributed by The Salvation Army to children
in need throughout the city. For more information, please contact Captain
Juan Burry. To apply for assistance, please drop by our office and fill
out a registration form.
