Christmas

Everyone knows that The Salvation Army brightens Christmas for thousands of families in Canada by providing food and toys for the children. However, did you know that The Salvation Army in Victoria, BC provided Christmas food hampers to over 1000 families in 2007? And that more than 6000 toys were distributed?

Christmas hampers are distributed by The Salvation Army as requested by the Greater Victoria Christmas Bureau. All applications are processed by the bureau and the Army takes a large number of these applications. Hampers are then distributed before Christmas. The food hampers are made possible by the tremendous donations of food and money that we receive throughout the month of December.

Toys for children are distributed through our Christmas Toy Shop. Applicants come to our centre and "shop" for the toys for their children. The parents are able to choose the toys that are most suitable for their children and these are given free of charge. We are very thankful to the many community groups and organizations that hold "Toy drives" on our behalf.

This Christmas, while you consider giving gifts to your family and friends, please consider giving a gift to The Salvation Army and our clients. Your gift of time, money, food, or toys will certainly put a smile on the face of some special child in the Victoria area.
