Angel Tree Program
The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program brings the joy of Christmas to
children from families in need with the help of generous sponsors.
Gifts purchased by the sponsors are given by The Salvation Army to
parents who may then experience the pride of providing for their
children and the treasure of sharing in their excitement.
Local malls, corporations, businesses, churches, service clubs,
schools, and other organizations may participate by providing a
site for an Angel Tree. The tree is typically an artificial Christmas
tree decorated with Angel Tags prepared by The Salvation Army. Each
Angel Tag lists a child's first name, gender, and age. If a tree
cannot be used in a location, the Angel Tags may be displayed in
the best way possible.
Sponsors are encouraged to select an Angel Tag from the tree and
buy suitable gifts for the child listed. This is a perfect opportunity
for sponsors to teach their own children about caring for others and
can be a fun time of shopping together. The Angel Tree coordinator will
provide instructions on what to do with the gifts.
Cash gifts are also welcome which will allow Salvation Army staff to
purchase gifts for families who register too late to get Angel Tags.
In partnering with an organization sponsoring a tree, The Salvation
Army will provide Angel Tags with names of children, collect and store
the gifts which will be distributed to the children's parents.
In Victoria, we host a free toy store which allows parents who would
have difficulty buying their children Christmas presents the
opportunity to share in that joy.
Approximately 6,000 toys will be distributed by The Salvation Army
in Victoria this Christmas.
Please consider being a blessing to those less fortunate in our
neighborhoods by sponsoring a tree or a child.
