Addictions & Rehabilitation Centre

The Victoria Addictions and Rehabilitations Centre (ARC) is a modern 149 bed facility that is situated in downtown Victoria. This multipurpose facility makes every effort to give its residents the opportunity to live in a safe drug and alcohol free environment. There are 53 rooms available for rent to men on a nightly or 30 day basis. There are also 56 emergency shelter beds for men in need, 21 of which are funded by BC Housing. The facility also operates a 40 bed half-way house, in partnership with Correctional Services Canada, for men returning to the community on federal parole.

ARC's services include a hostel and shelter program, chaplaincy, Family Tracing and the Beacon Bus.

The hostel provides those with urgent or emergency need for short term accommodation while setting up a more stable living situation with a place to stay. Its dormitories can house and provide meals for as many as 56 men. Also offered, as part of the transitional housing program, are 53 private room and meal accommodations.

ARC offers a listening ear, support and spiritual counseling to residents and drop-ins. They also supply Bibles and Christian literature for their residents. In addition ARC offers drop in programs at the Community Dining Room with coffee and refreshments on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons. Community meals are served Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 12:00 noon. A worship service is held every Sunday morning and a Community Fellowship Night is offered on Thursday evenings.

The Salvation Army's Family Tracing reunites family members who have become separated due to various circumstances, while offering spiritual support to those persons involved.

The Beacon Bus travels throughout Victoria several times per month, providing the homeless and disadvantaged, especially teens and young people, with hot drinks and snacks.
