Addictions & Rehabilitation Centre
The Victoria Addictions and Rehabilitations Centre (ARC) is a
modern 121 bed facility that is situated in downtown Victoria.
This multipurpose facility makes every effort to give its
residents the opportunity to live in a safe drug and alcohol
free environment. There are 71 rooms available for rent to
men on a nightly or 30 day basis, as well as 16 emergency
shelter beds for men in need. The facility also operates a
34 bed half-way house for men returning to the community on
federal parole.
ARC's services include a hostel program, pastoral care, Family
Tracing and the Beacon Bus.
The hostel provides those with urgent or emergency need for
short term accommodation while setting up a more stable living
situation with a place to stay. Its dormitories can house and
provide meals for as many as 30 men. Also offered, as part of
the hostel, are 71 private room and meal accommodations.
ARC offers a listening ear, support and spiritual counseling
to residents and drop-ins. They also supply Bibles and Christian
literature for their residents. In addition ARC offers drop in
programs at the Christian Friendship Room with coffee and
refreshments. Community meals are served Monday, Wednesday,
Friday and Sunday at 12:00 noon. A church service is held
every Sunday morning and morning devotions are held throughout
the week.
The Salvation Army's Family Tracing reunites family members
who have become separated due to various circumstances, while
offering spiritual support to those persons involved.
The Beacon Bus travels to downtown Victoria 5 times per month,
providing the homeless, especially teens and young people, with
hot drinks and snacks.
