Toy Run 2008
On Sunday, September 21, the Vancouver Island Mustang Association
and the Canadian Classic Chevelles & Beaumonts held its annual Toy
Run to benefit The Salvation Army’s Christmas toy drive. Members
of the Vancouver Island Mustang Association cruised their vehicles
around Victoria, ending up at Beaver Lake Park.
There they showcased
over 70 extraordinary vehicles, from classic cars of the 1950’s to
modern vehicles of 2008. The car owners were met by The Salvation
Army Community & Family Services staff that served hot dogs, pop
and coffee. All participants brought toys to be distributed by The
Salvation Army during their Christmas campaign.

Approximately $5000 worth of toys was received, along with cash
donations. In 2007, The Salvation Army gave out more than 6000 new
toys to children in the Greater Victoria area. This was possible
thanks to generous organizations like the Vancouver Island Mustang
Association.
The Salvation Army is very busy during the Christmas season as
we bring help and hope to those who need it most. An integral part
of our Christmas program is our Toy Shop, where parents are given
the opportunity to choose new toys to give to their children at
Christmas. Families qualifying for Christmas assistance come to
us through the Greater Victoria Christmas Bureau.
The Salvation
Army benefits greatly from the donations and partnership of the
many community organizations that support us with toy & food drives.
If you or your organization are interested in doing a toy drive or
food drive for The Salvation Army this Christmas, please contact us.
